Nitric Oxide (NO) is THE chemical you want for cardiovascular health. It is the antithesis of endothelin, aldosterone, and antiotensin-2. It improves oxidative stress, reduces vascular inflammation, as well as vascular immune dysfunction. It is a key component of endothelial function. Endothelial dysfunction precedes cardiovascular disease by decades. Therefore, we want to optimize nitric oxide as early as possible.
The endothelium is the inner most, single-cell layer thick lining of the artery. The function of the endothelium is essential for optimal blood vessel health and blood pressure. When the endothelium is not healthy, or dysfunctional, vascular damage begins.
