Revolution Health and Wellness clinic was started by Dr. Chad P. Edwards, DO. Dr. Edwards uses a form of alternative medicine in Tulsa called prolotherapy to help heal patients of their chronic pain problems. Most of our patients have never heard of prolotherapy and have a lot of questions about it. The following article will provide some history about the use of prolotherapy in healing people from their chronic pain. To learn even more, call Dr. Edwards at Revolution Health today at 918-935-3636.

Prolotherapy was started by Dr George Hackett over 80 years ago. Dr. Hackett was a trauma surgeon in Ohio and discovered that injecting the proliferant solution increased the thickness of ligaments, so he set out to study the effects. He started studying and injecting patients in an attempt them with a 90% success rate. His first book was published in 1956 and was called “Ligament and Tendon Relaxation Treated by Prolotherapy.” Prolotherapy is an approved procedure by the American Osteopathic Association of Prolotherapy Integrative Pain Medicine.

Dr. C. Everett Koop, a former US Surgeon General, was a huge proponent of prolotherapy. Prolotherapy’s effectiveness is dependent on eliminating a number of traditional ways of treating chronic pain, such as the use of anti-inflammatory medications, steroids, smoking, and applying ice. These are all interventions that decrease the body’s ability to have an appropriate inflammatory response and will decrease the effectiveness of prolotherapy. Many of our patients that suffer from chronic pain conditions often wonder why they have never heard about prolotherapy before. Most physicians in traditional Western medicine haven’t even heard of this form of alternative medicine in Tulsa.

Dr. Koop stated that he believed that many medical professionals are skeptical because prolotherapy seems to be too easy of a solution to the many complicated problems that afflict the human body that have been notoriously difficult to treat. Proliferant solutions are inexpensive, natural, and easy to mix. Because of this, no pharmaceutical company will market them, because there simply is no money in developing the substances. In a country where there are so many reasons to be skeptical of the medical system, it makes sense to be skeptical. We live in a society that is driven by Evidence Based Medicine (EBM), which means that most medical decisions are based on evidence that is derived from sound scientific research.

Dr. Edwards has yet to find one patient who has been exposed to the benefits of prolotherapy that walked away from it with doubts of its effectiveness. We will give you as much information as you need in order to make an informed decision on whether you’d like to follow through with prolotherapy treatments. Prolotherapy is an excellent procedure that can drastically improve most people’s pain. Prolotherapy has changed many of our patients lives, and we know that it can help you have a better quality of life as well. Call Revolution Health today at 918-935-3636, and we’ll discuss if prolotherapy is the right treatment for you.

Dr. Edwards hopes to never make you feel uncomfortable by his faith, but it is his prayer that all of his patients will come to know Him. Dr. Edwards strongly believes that God called him into this profession in order to help others find relief from pain and disease. He will do his absolute best to help you achieve optimal health.

There are so many problems that can be attributed, at the very least in part, to poor nutrition, such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, Chron’s disease, hyperlipidemia, digestive problems, stomach pains, osteoporosis, obesity, Thyroid problems, fatigue, depression, insomnia, anxiety, and many more. Proper nutrition is about so much more than portion control, or eating the right amount; it’s about eating proper kind of foods. When we are eating the right types of food, then the quantity becomes much less important. Eating to optimize your health means you need to start thinking about your food as your fuel. This goes against the typical “American way” of using food for social gatherings, holidays, comfort, rewards, etc.

Gluten, for example, increases overall inflammation in the body, and is also the cause of most of the autoimmune conditions, such as Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Thyroid disorders, and many more. Many of our patients are very surprised to learn that many of these conditions can be adequately treated with nutrition and alternative medicine in Tulsa. For conditions that can’t be completely treated with nutrition alone, we can at the very least accomplish a decrease in the dose of medications that are being used to currently treat the condition. New, lower doses will help to decrease the often unwanted side effects of medications. No matter what, improving your nutrition is a win win situation.

To achieve optimal nutrition, we want our patients to establish their goals and then continually work towards them. You will also need to eat whole, natural foods whenever possible, and ideally try to get as much of this food locally as possible, for example at local farmers markets. It’s also important to eat as much variety as possible, which will ensure a good intake of nutrients. We also recommend eliminating gluten altogether, and reduce, if not completely eliminate, grains as much as possible. Following these guidelines will get you started on the path to achieving optimal health through proper nutrition.
